GFE escorts in Madrid, and why the city suits it

On Madrid listings the letters GFE — or 'trato de novia' in Spanish — sit on almost every advert, usually in a list between two prices. That is the opposite of what the term describes. Here is what it means, and why Madrid is one of the best cities in Europe for the real version.

What the letters mean on a Madrid advert

Spanish portals run on checklists. An advert ticks boxes, and “GFE”, “trato de novia” and “implicada” are three of them, all meaning roughly the same thing: warm, unhurried, not mechanical. Because they are boxes, everybody ticks them.

So the phrase tells you nothing about the person and a good deal about the format. If it appears in a list with a price beside it, it is being sold as an item.

What it actually describes is a manner — present, curious about you, in no hurry — and a manner cannot be ticked. It turns up or it does not, and what decides it is mostly the match and the amount of time.

What happens privately between two consenting adults is their business, and it is not something we arrange, price or discuss. The term describes the tone of an evening and nothing else.

Why Madrid suits it

The honest reason is the timetable. The transactional feeling in this business comes from the clock, and Madrid is a city that ignores clocks. A good day here is built from things that take as long as they take:

  • The vermouth hour. Late morning at the weekend, a small glass at a bar, standing up. The city’s favourite hour, and nobody is going anywhere.
  • A long lunch or a late dinner, and the sobremesa after it — the conversation that carries on at the table long after the plates have gone.
  • A walk. The Retiro at dusk, the Prado or the Thyssen with someone who wants to be there, the old streets of Las Letras.
  • A late drink. The cocktail bars are at their best after midnight.

None of that is a service. It is simply how a good day in Madrid goes, and it is the frame in which two people stop performing for each other.

What to book

Two hours will not produce it, here or anywhere.

Four hours gives it a chance, but in Madrid four hours is one dinner. The formats that work in this city are longer:

Afternoon into morning. A gallery or a walk at six, a drink at nine, dinner at ten, the night. It is one arrangement, and it feels like a day spent with someone rather than an appointment kept.

A weekend. Saturday lunch to Sunday afternoon. Sunday is the point: the Rastro market in the morning if you like a crowd, vermouth, and a lunch that ends when the light does.

A day out. On a longer stay, Toledo, Segovia or El Escorial. The best conversations of a weekend tend to happen on a train.

Language is most of it

This arrangement is conversation more than anything else, which makes the language match more important than any photograph.

If your Spanish is good and you would enjoy an evening in it, say so. If you want English that goes past pleasantries — humour, opinions, disagreement — say that. We will tell you the honest level rather than the brochure one. In Madrid this single question separates a pleasant evening from a memorable one more often than anything else we ask.

How we match for it

We set the letters aside and ask about the day: how long, what you would like to do with it, what you never want to talk about, whether you are happier walking or sitting.

Then we suggest two or three people. The ones who are good at this are curious by temperament. It is not a skill that can be added to someone who is not.

And we decline what the format cannot hold. A ninety-minute window between two meetings is a perfectly good booking — it is just a different one, and we would rather call it by its name.

What it costs

There is no supplement for it. The rates are the rates:

Range
Four hours$3,200 – 5,200
Overnight$5,500 – 9,000
A weekend, per dayfrom $6,000

Detail on the Madrid rates page. A listing that charges extra for “trato de novia” is pricing a tick-box.

Arranging one

Tell us what the day should feel like rather than what it should include: how long you have, whether you want to go out, and which language you would like to spend it in.

We will come back with a small number of people who fit. The ones who are best at this are also the most private, which is why you will not find them on a portal.
